Walking is something we do thousands of times every day, yet few people understand what actually makes a gait efficient. Join us for this special The Movement Study workshop led by Chantal Deeble, owner of Kinispirit, and a highly respected movement educator known for her engaging teaching style and depth of knowledge. Chantal brings years of experience helping movement professionals develop a deeper understanding of how the body organizes itself for efficient, functional movement.
In this workshop, we'll explore how the feet, pelvis, spine, rib cage, and arms work together to create an effortless walking pattern. Rather than focusing on correcting symptoms, we'll examine the underlying movement strategies that influence each step.
Through observation, movement exploration, and practical exercises, you'll learn how improving organization throughout the body can reduce unnecessary tension, improve balance, and create a smoother, more efficient gait.
Whether you're a movement professional or simply interested in moving with greater ease, you'll leave with practical tools and a new appreciation for one of the body's most fundamental movement patterns.
Participants will:
Understand the phases of gait
Learn how the foot interacts with the ground
Explore how force travels through the body during walking
Understand the role of pelvis mobility and stability
Discover how spinal rotation contributes to efficient gait
Examine rib cage and arm swing relationships
Recognize common compensatory movement patterns
Learn simple strategies to improve gait efficiency
