Study Session
Understanding the Pelvic Floor
with Rachel Feinerman
Wednesday May 6th, 2026 | 5-6pm
Fee: $40
Did you know rolling your foot on a ball can stimulate your pelvic floor? Should I cue the pelvic floor in exercise? Where exactly is my pelvic floor?
The pelvic floor can be a confusing and mystifying area of the body. This workshop will focus on an overview of the anatomy of the pelvic floor and understanding its movements and relationships to your pelvis, hips, respiration and core. Moving beyond Kegels, we'll begin to explore recoil, breath, contraction and stretch through dedicated exercises, Pilates exercises, and everyday movement.
Workshops
Studying movement and how it affects the body and the mind is an ongoing journey. At The Movement Study, continuing education workshops are curated to provide cutting-edge research and inspire clients and professionals alike. Offered quarterly, these workshops will be led by top-notch movement and wellness experts and will be available in person and virtual simultaneously.

This workshop builds on Pilates Equipment Teacher Training by focusing on developing the instructor’s ability to observe and interpret what the eyes see and the hands feel. Participants will develop visual assessment skills, improve tactile cueing, and learn to apply hands-on facilitation safely and effectively to support alignment, movement efficiency, and client independence. An anatomy component grounded in TMS Core Movement Principles connects theory to practice.
Participants will leave the workshop with practical strategies to:
Use sight and touch as complementary proprioceptive tools
Integrate hands-on facilitation into Pilates choreography
Identify when tactile cueing most effectively supports movement learning
Enhance client proprioception, coordination, and body awareness
Maintain professional boundaries and communicate clearly when using touch
By integrating sight, touch, and communication, instructors will be able to adapt their approach to different learning styles, abilities and comfort levels.
